မိတၳီလာၿမိဳ႕နယ္၊ ၿမိဳ႕မရပ္၊ သမိုင္း၀င္ေဖာင္ေတာ္ဦးေစတီေတာ္ႀကီးရဲ႕ ၁၂၉ႀကိမ္ေျမာက္ ဗုဒၶပူဇနိယပြဲေတာ္ႀကီးကိုဇာတ္ပြဲ၊ ျမန္မာ့ရိုးရာေလာင္းေလွၿပိဳင္ပြဲ၊ ခ်ားရဟတ္၊ ယိမ္းေလွ၊ ေပ်ာ္ပြဲရႊင္ပြဲ ေတြနဲ႕ စည္စည္ကားကားက်င္းပသြားမွာျဖစ္တယ္လို႔သိရပါတယ္။ ဒီႏွစ္မွာေတာ့အရင္ႏွစ္ေတြနဲ႕ မတူ ကန္အေရွ႕ဘက္ေရာ အေနာက္ဘက္မွာပါ ဆိုင္ခန္းေတြ တိုးခ်ဲ႕ဖြင့္လွစ္ခြင့္ၿပဳမွာျဖစ္လို႔ ဆိုင္ခန္းဖြင့္လို သူေတြဟာ ဆိုင္ခန္းမ်ားေနရာခ်ထားေရးေကာ္မတီဆီမွာ ၂၃-၉-၂၀၁၂ရက္မတိုင္ခင္ စာရင္းေပးသြင္း ႏိုင္ၾကပါတယ္။ ေတာ္သလင္းလျပည့္ေန႕မွာေတာ့ ႏွစ္စဥ္က်င္းပၿမဲျဖစ္တဲ့့ သံဃာေတာ္အပါး ၁၀၀၀ကို လွဴဖြယ္ပစၥည္းအစုစု ေလာင္းလွဴပူေဇာ္သြားမွာျဖစ္လို႔ လွဴဒါန္းလိုသူမ်ားအေနနဲ႕ ေဂါပကရံုးခန္းကို ေတာ္သလင္းလဆန္း ၈ရက္ေန႔ေနာက္ဆံုးထားၿပီး စာရင္းေပးသြင္းႏိုင္ၾကပါတယ္။

          ဒီႏွစ္ဗုဒၶပူဇနိယပြဲေတာ္ႀကီးမွာ ျမန္မာ့ရိုးရာေလာင္းေလွၿပိဳင္ပြဲကို ခါတိုင္းႏွစ္ေတြထက္ ပိုမိုစည္ကားသိုက္ၿမိဳက္စြာက်င္းပသြားမယ္လို႔သိရတဲ့အတြက္ ၿပိဳင္ပြဲျဖစ္ေျမာက္ေရးေကာ္မတီကို ေတြ႕ဆံုေမးျမန္းခဲ့ပါတယ္။

           “ျမန္မာ့ရိုးရာယဥ္ေက်းမႈအားကစားနည္းတစ္မ်ိဳးျဖစ္တဲ့ ေလာင္းေလွၿပိဳင္ပြဲကို ေဖာင္ေတာ္ဦး ဘုရားပြဲေတာ္က်င္းပတဲ့ ႏွစ္စဥ္ႏွစ္တိုင္း ထည့္သြင္းက်င္းပလာခဲ့တာပါ။ မိတၳီလာကန္ပတ္၀န္းက်င္က ေက်းရြာ၊ ရပ္ကြက္ေဒသခံအမ်ားစုက ေလွၿပိဳင္ပြဲကိုပါ၀င္ဆင္ႏႊဲၾကပါတယ္။ ၿပိဳင္ပြဲကိုအႀကီးတန္း၊ အငယ္တန္း ႏွစ္တန္းခြဲထားပါတယ္။ အငယ္တန္းမွာပထမရတဲ့အသင္းက ေနာက္တစ္ႏွစ္မွာ အႀကီး တန္းကိုပါ၀င္ယွဥ္ၿပိဳင္ခြင့္ရၿပီး၊ အႀကီးတန္းသံုးႏွစ္ဆက္တိုက္အႏိုင္ရတဲ့အသင္းက တံခြန္စိုက္ဒိုင္းဆု ဖလားကို အၿပီးပိုင္ဆိုင္ခြင့္ရွိပါတယ္။ ၿပိဳင္ပြဲႏွစ္မ်ိဳးလံုး သံုးခ်ီသံုးလားေလွာ္ခတ္ယွဥ္ၿပိဳင္ရတဲ့စနစ္နဲ႕ ယွဥ္ၿပိဳင္ရမွာျဖစ္ပါတယ္” လို႔ ၿပိဳင္ပြဲက်င္းပေရးေကာ္မတီ၀င္တစ္ဦးကေျပာျပပါတယ္။

          ၿပိဳင္ပြဲမစတင္ခင္ ေလွအသင္းေတြအားလံုးစုစည္းၿပီး ပန္းတိုင္အနီးမွာရွိတဲ့ ေဖာင္ေတာ္ဦး ေစတီေတာ္ကို ေလွဦးတိုက္ေလွာ္ခတ္ၿပီ ေလွၿပိဳင္ပြဲ ဖြင့္ပြဲျပဳလုပ္ေလ့ရွိတယ္လို႕ဆိုပါတယ္။ ၿပိဳင္ပြဲ ၀င္ခါနီးအခ်ိန္မွာလည္း ၿပိဳင္ပြဲ၀င္ေလွအသင္းတိုင္းဟာ ေစတီေတာ္ကို ေလွဦးတိုက္ေလွာ္ခတ္ပူေဇာ္ၿပီး မွသာ ၿပိဳင္ပြဲ၀င္ေလ့ရွိပါတယ္။ အခုႏွစ္ျမန္မာ့ရိုးရာေလာင္းေလွၿပိဳင္ပြဲမွာ အႀကီးတန္းမွာ ေျခာက္သင္း၊ အငယ္တန္းမွာ ၁၁သင္း စုစုေပါင္း ၁၇သင္းပါ၀င္ယွဥ္ၿပိဳင္ၾကမယ္လို႔ ုသိရပါတယ္။

The 129^th Buddha Pujaniya Festival of the Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda in Myoma Ward, Meiktila Township, will be held on a grand scale in conjunction with drama play, traditional regatta, ferris wheel, display of decorated boats and festivities. Unlike in previous years, permission will be granted to open more shops on both east and west sides of the lake this year. So, those wishing to open shops are to register at the Shops Committee not later than 23 September 2012. The annual ceremony to offer alms to 1000 monks will be held on Full Moon Day of Tawthalin. Well-wishers are reminded to report to the Office of the Pagoda Board of Trustees by the 8^th of Tawthalin.  

          We’ve learnt that traditional regatta will be organized on a grander scale than previous years in the festival, so we met the Regattas Committee for an interview.

          A committee member said, “The regatta, one of Myanmar traditional sports events, has been held in the years in which Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda Festival takes place. The majority of the residents in the villages and wards around Meiktila Lake take part in the regatta. The regatta is of two divisions — senior division and junior division. The first prize winner in the junior division is promoted to the senior division the following year. And if a team has won the trophy three years in a row, it will get the trophy for good and all. In both divisions, the teams compete the best of three”.

          Prior to the regatta, all the teams row their boats shoulder to shoulder towards the Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda near the finishing line to launch the regatta. And just before the event, every participant team rows their boat towards the pagoda as a gesture of paying reverence to it. This year, six teams join the senior division and 11 teams join the junior division, totaling 17 teams.
